Color Relationships

For this lesson, I learned about the variations of color relationships on the color wheel. A color is never seen alone and no one color is "good" or "bad". I learned that wherever there is light, there is color. The color wheel is a tool for understanding how colors are related to one other and has 12 basic hues. A tint is basically a hue mixed with white on different levels while a shade is a hues mixed with black on different levels. White light contains all visible colors and black has the absence color.
The main topic I have learned is all about the different combinations of colors. The first one is primary or parent colors which, when combined, make up the secondary colors. The primary hues are blue, yellow and red. The secondary colors are green, orange and violet. The next one, tertiary colors, is obtained from combining a primary and secondary color. These colors are bluegreen, redorange, yellowgreen, etc. Moving on to color relationships, we have the first which is Monochromatic. This color relationship is made up of one color with different shades and tints or the dark, medium and light values of a single color. Second is analogous which are adjacent colors. These colors share strong undertones, some of which are yellow and red. The next one is complementary. In this color relationship the colors are situated on direct opposites on the color wheel. An example of this may be green and red.
The last one is the split-complementary which situates three hues in such a way that the third hue is opposite the two hues which are one step apart.
I also learned about a few terms in photoshop. The first of which is gamut, the range of colors. The colorspace is made up of the LAB, AdobeRGB, sRGB and CMYK. The CMYK color standard [Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black (Kelvin)] are the colors for printing.
